Guide to Marrakech and sights to see – a real family treat!
What a beautiful start to the day…
You’ve just finished devouring a gargantuan breakfast (Berber-style) on the beautiful terrace at the Riad Eden, the little one is on his DS, and you’ve just managed somehow or another (thanks to a shameful piece of blackmail) to sit the littlest one down in front of a DVD.
The calm and serenity generated by the freshness of the sheets, the softness of your pillow and the singing of the little birds who live in the Bougainvillaea on the patio all become at that moment the ideal setting for lazily prolonging your excellent night for another hour or two…true happiness!
But suddenly, out of the bathroom comes a raging torrent of questions, the main thrust of which is: “darling, what are we doing today?”
Yes, I know guys, rather ruins the atmosphere eh?
In any case, it can’t be any clearer: end of the rest so hoped for…
So as not to crash Google’s servers, I won’t enumerate here the Tsunami of words that somehow pull back the sheets and tear you out of bed, as it’s a mystery that only our charming spouses know and also, I don’t want to knock over your favourite search engine….
In any case, from now on guys, no worries – Uncle Manu is here and has prepared a little background for you…
I’ve listed below, in order of my own personal preference, the main sights and different monuments in Marrakech. I’ve added an explication of each one which will enable you to show off a little, and also surprise your ladies, but also keep your dignity when the kids start asking the killer questions to entertain themselves or to pay you back for the 2 hours walking you’ve just made them do:
-
Medina
-
Koutoubia
-
Bahia Palace
-
Ben Youssef Madrassa
-
Majorelle Gardens
-
The Marrakech Museum
-
Saadien Tombs
-
El Baadi Palace
-
Dar Si Said Museum
-
Tiskiwin House
-
Menara Gardens
…Don’t try to visit everything in one day cause it’s impossible, except if you go for a “commando training”, which i don’t specialy recommend…don’t forget your kids ! So for me, it’s much better to make some stops at your place, the Riad Marrakech Eden, and take the most of its terrace with a delighful fresh drink…and peace definitely well deserved !
